Mando Ortega is an LA based musician, producer, audio engineer and composer.
A native of Santa Barbara, California, Mando moved to Los Angeles in 2009 and earned a degree in recording, mixing and mastering from Musicianʼs Institute in Hollywood. Shortly after graduation, the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf corporation commissioned Mando for the audio track of “Master Davey and the Magic Tea House” a children’s book sold in conjunction with the “Blue Tiger” tea blend, exclusively for Coffee Bean stores.
From there, Mando began working closely with Coffee Bean’s CEO, entrepreneur and music aficionado Mel Elias. Mando’s musicianship & engineering skillset expanded and refined thanks to a multitude of creative endeavors with Elias and his contacts in the music and film industries. Mando worked on everything from film scoring to art installations and stand-alone audio formats, playing and recording alone and in collaboration with many others. 10 years later, not only is he capable of creating magical audio environments through composing and producing, Mando can be described as a musical polyglot, able to pick up almost any instrument and play.
Mando is a live performer as well. Currently, Mando plays guitar for rock band True American, guitar for alternative rock band La Barbara, and bass and guitar for Latin music recording artist Iliana.
Over the last 10 years, Mando’s professional background as an audio engineer and performer allowed him to be versatile and work well with others. “Itʼs not enough to just make something for myself, it needs to be collaborative” says Mando. Mando’s goal is always to provide the listener with the best possible audio experience, no matter the format.
